“However we use it, art is a journey. It takes us to different, new worlds. Sensory, intellectual, sometimes dreamlike, they always take us beyond ourselves, beyond the borders of our personal universe. Such a journey directly brings into play our posture as we contemplate the works, the degree of attention we give them, the time we spend on each one, and inversely, the impatience that makes us move from one to another, and the distance at which stand before them.”
This is how Régis Durand described the theme of the exhibition he organised. Depending on the mediums and the temporality of the visitor’s gaze, the works take us on a different journey. Whether they record or reveal, their power is shown in the meeting with the work, to the point of making us feel lost, unable to focus on our familiar points of reference.
