THE ARCHIPELAGO OF IMAGES

CARTE BLANCHE GIVEN TO FRANÇOISE DOCQUIERT, SENIOR LECTURER AT THE UNIVERSITY PARIS I PANTHÉON-SORBONNE, DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ARTS AND SCIENCES OF ART.

 This project is the fruit of the collaboration between Françoise Docquiert, senior lecturer at the University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, and four of her students nearing the end of their 2nd year Master’s degree in Exhibition Sciences and Techniques. It is based on the works of photographer Gilbert Garcin, which have been complemented by works chosen from the Collection in order to create this installation. 

“Following in the footsteps of the stories told by Gilbert Garcin, today forms of contemporary art are many and varied: they act as a critical eye, an instrument of detachment, a machine of fiction and vision, tracing and complementing memory. Art takes the form of an incisive and often ironic chronical.”
